Mesmer and Necromancer have the most diversity. Mesmer is probably harder, even though there both pretty easy. I'd say Mesmer.

I think the best way to figure this out is to try a few classes out and see which one best suits your play style and interests.
For me, that means Ranger, but it's different for everyone. |

If you want to go for something like GWAMM on your "main" then I'd suggest choosing Necro, Mesmer, Rit or Monk. I personally am a pretty terrible at monking unless I play my monk non-stop, so if you're like me go with one of the other three. Each of these can do pretty much whatever you want in HM with H/H with ease, which makes title seeking that much easier. Physical profs kinda get the shaft in HM, (but not as much as eles of course), though doing stuff with em is still not so bad. I personally have chosen Mesmer, because the profession is so unique and because basically all mesmer damage is armor ignoring.
If you're not going for titles.... well meh. Don't even bother picking a main in that case, just play whatever is fun at the moment. Get one of every prof through everything... then you can do whatever you want on whatever char you want. Getting heavy packs is a lot easier when you have 10 chars that can do all the z-quests. Plus that way you can learn pretty much any farm that exists, and you'll always have a char of the profession in need. |

My "main" is a Ranger. He was my first character, and for a few years he was the one I played most. Therefore, he was the one that had the most stuff done, and had the most titles. He currently has 26 titles, and may eventually have 27 because I'm slowly getting to the max "chest opening" title (I have a little over 9500 chests opened). He could get GWAMM if I could bother to spend the time and gold getting sweettooth, party animal, wisdom, and treasure hunter.
However, I'd really have to call my Rit my "main" character these days as it's the one I play the most. Next most used to that are my Monk and Mesmer. I don't actually play my Ranger much lately, except to burn off what few sweets and party items I get. So, the bottom line is - any character class can get GWAMM, if that's something you're interested in. The main thing would be to pick the class you enjoy playing the most. And, I suggest you try as many classes as possible, before you decide on a main. Last edited by Quaker; Nov 24, 2010 at 02:32 PM // 14:32.. |

My main is a ranger. I love bow attacks and pets! After starting many characters, I personally have found out I don't like playing melee... I do find playing casters is enjoyable, but I just keep coming back to my good old Ranger.

My main is Paragon, even if with my assa i can do most speed clears existing in the game.
So: paragon is more constructive character, you got a lot of choices for skill combos and is always welcome in most high-end pve areas. Paragon is a versatile character, but to be funny u must have a good knowledge of the skills and of the areas. Assassin is the ruler of the speed-clear runs, so if u wanna make easy money and run dungeons take an assa. Personally i got tired of speed-clears with my sin, since did millions runs and i decided to do something different with my Paragon. Check Pugs and Grouping threads |

But for starters, i would suggest to think of what you want to do - Cast or Hit. If hit then you have to figure out if you want to do it from distance or in close combat. Just make some brainstorming about your needs and wants |

It all depends on what you're doing with the character, but I have all classes and I always come back to my monk as a main, so i'd choose that, but for say you were doing pvp, unless you were a high rank you shouldn't really play monk cause it could be difficult. War, Sin, Ele, Mes, Ranger, it all just depends on the expierence you have, what you're doing, and what you love to play the most.

I play War and Rit because they're versatile and do lots of damage. Given there isn't a reason to explain past that I'll leave it there.
